We’re exploring what the future of the Tay Basin could look like.
The Town of Perth has partnered with the University of Toronto to support a student landscape design competition focused on reimagining the Tay Basin area. This initiative invites fresh, creative ideas for how the space could function as a flexible, accessible, and community-focused public area.
We welcome you to view the student submissions and share your feedback at the Tay Basin Ladscape Ideas Competition Showcase, hosted at the Crystal Palace on Friday, April 10 from 7-9 p.m. A cash bar will be available, featuring beverages by Bridge Master’s Brewing Company, Riverwood Pizza Company, and Top Shelf Distillers.
We hope to see you there! Your input helps shape how we think about the future of Perth’s public spaces.
About the Tay Basin Landscape Ideas Competition
This competition brings together students from the University of Toronto’s John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design to develop conceptual design ideas for the Tay Basin.
- Participants were asked to consider how the space could support:
- Community events and festivals
- Daily use and tourism
- Accessibility and wayfinding
- Existing infrastructure, including parking and traffic flow
These designs are conceptual only and are not proposed projects. This initiative gives us the opportunity to explore new ideas and support post-secondary education and innovation.
