{"id":635,"date":"2010-10-25T18:04:01","date_gmt":"2010-10-25T18:04:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.communityexplore.com\/winterparkfl\/?p=635"},"modified":"2010-11-02T18:05:32","modified_gmt":"2010-11-02T18:05:32","slug":"central-park-hosts-art-on-the-green","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/communityexplore.com\/winterparkfl\/central-park-hosts-art-on-the-green\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Park Hosts Art on the Green"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To celebrate the re-opening of the City of Winter Park\u2019s crown jewel, Central Park, the city\u2019s Public Art Advisory Board showcased its newest \u201cArt on the Green\u201d exhibition, which highlighted the works of Chris Scala and Barbara Sorensen. \u201cArt on the Green 2010\u201d featured an exhibition of sculptures: Barbara Sorensen\u2019s Dwellings in Red, and Chris Scala\u2019s Trailer.<\/p>\n<p>Dwelling in Red is Barbara Sorensen\u2019s continuing investigation of the vessel form. It was made with intricately woven powder-coated aluminum with a bright red color finish. The sculptures, which relate to each other, also captivate the viewer\u2014a clear sign of Sorensen\u2019s focus on human-landscape relationships.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Scala\u2019s piece on the other hand, concentrates on his interest in the study of privacy, transparency and light. Taking ordinary copper wire and stainless steel, he\u2019s woven them into a fabric, resulting in sculptures that look either transparent or opaque, all depending on how the light strikes them.
