Beginning Saturday,\u00a0June 9, the 125-day countdown starts. The countdown continues to Friday,\u00a0October 12, 2012 &#8211; the city\u2019s celebration of its official incorporation as the\u00a0\u201cTown of Winter Park.\u201d For the next 125 days, the city will be posting\u00a0historical facts on <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WinterParkFla\\\">Facebook<\/a>\u00a0\u00ae\u00a0and <a href=\\\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/WinterParkFla\\\">Twitter<\/a>\u00a0\u00ae\u00a0reminding the community about\u00a0its rich and interesting history.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>To prepare for this historic milestone, the City Commission appointed the\u00a0following members to the City\u2019s 125\u00a0th<br \/>\nAnniversary Task Force:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Patrick Chapin, Winter Park Chamber of Commerce<\/li>\n<li>Cindy Bowman LaFronz, Rollins College<\/li>\n<li>Fairolyn Livingston, Hannibal Square Heritage Center<\/li>\n<li>Bob Melanson, Winter Park Public Library<\/li>\n<li>Kenneth Murrah, Murrah, Doyle and Wigle, P.A.<\/li>\n<li>Rev. Talia Raymond, First Congregational Church of Winter Park<\/li>\n<li>Susan Skolfield, Winter Park Historical Association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since being appointed, the task force along with city staff has been working\u00a0diligently on planning celebrations and partnering with existing events\u00a0throughout the 2012 year to share the city\u2019s 125th anniversary well wishes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the city has launched a new 125th\u00a0anniversary button on the home page of its\u00a0official website <a href=\\\"http:\/\/cityofwinterpark.org\/\\\">cityofwinterpark.org<\/a> highlighting\u00a0all of the celebrations and events, providing\u00a0historical resources, and pertinent information\u00a0associated with this milestone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis anniversary is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I am so honored to\u00a0continue in the footsteps of our very first Mayor Robert White, Jr., who was\u00a0elected into office on October 12, 1887. This is an exciting time for Winter\u00a0Park.
